Equine-Assisted Therapies of South Florida
Equine-Assisted Therapies of South Florida provides therapeutic riding and equine-assisted service for children and adults with special needs. We improve the lives of participants who experience a wide variety of disabilities through therapeutic horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities. Our programs include Therapeutic Riding, Unmounted Horsemanship, Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy and Hippotherapy. Program participation can begin at age 4. Equine-Assisted Therapies began in 1982 serving six students with borrowed horses. Since then, the organization has grown to provide more than 2,400 individuals with special needs throughout its history. We manage a 5.25-acre campus within Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek that includes a 12-stall barn, covered riding arena, grazing paddocks and the Therapeutic Learning Center. Programs are executed with the aid of specially trained horses that serve more than 130 individuals each year, assisted by more than 300 volunteers who donate more than 10,000 hours of their time and talents annually.
